Best artists/songwriter of our generation
Matthew T. Szatkowski | Chicago, IL USA | 11/25/2007
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Sarah Blasko is hands down one of the best artists/songwriter of our generation. Her ability to reach in her soul to stir emotions and create breath taking arrangements is beyond comprehension. To those who have negative things to say about her, might want to research this brilliant woman before judging her music.

First of all, you have to realize that the title The Overture & The Underscore, describes the album completely. There are no over-produced tracks on this cd. Therefore making it stand out among the rest of those artist that relay on heavy choruses and beats. Sarah Blasko incorporated her original recording she had done with her little Casio piano, and built around it. Which for me in humble and deserving of my credit to her as a real artist as compared to those who buys pre-made songs and music.

Second of all, Sarah Blasko seduces her audience with her sultry and elegantly arranged music. Her lyrics speaks on a complex level of intensity, one must almost get into her mind and talent to truly appreciate her.

The first song that caught my attention was Counting Sheep, which for me, is the stand out track of the entire album. When I first heard this song, I was living in Arizona and the song came on and I literally stopped in my tracks, I couldn't move, this voice this music hit a nerve in my body and I was in shock. From there on i ran to Barnes and Nobel and found out that the rest of the album is full of surprises such as Perfect Now, Sweet November, Always Worth It, just to name the few.

If you appreciate true, raw talent that's not sugar coated, Sarah Blasko's, The Overture & The Underscore is a must have.
