A Great Legacy Collection

"Word has been re-releasing the Sandi back catalog into new budget packages in recent years Via Dolorosa: Anthems of Redemptionthat unfortunately loses the dramatic flow of the original releases, though it is good to have the material out there. But this 2009 "Duets 2" release is a positive surprise! For one thing, the first Sandi "Duets" album was marred by a lack of remastered tracks. DuetsThis collection has solid balanced sound from start to finish. Two tracks with applause retain those sounds. Best of all, this album stands alone with a flow of its own that works dramatically as well as musically.

The tracks are mostly from 1990's projects where Sandi was a guest on the album of another artist or a thematic shared project. Sandi's finest duet, aside from her work with Larnelle Harris, is here: "He Watches Over You" with BeBe Winans. For those who want at least one Sandi high note per album, there is the Emmanuel Medley with Larnelle Harris and the Alan Menken/Tim Rice "Aladdin" song "A Whole New World" with David Phelps. From the underrated pop tune concept album "Together" with Kathy Troccoli we have the reimagining of the Judy Garland/Barbra Streisand "Happy" duet from TV's 1963-64The Judy Garland Show - The Show That Got Away "The Judy Garland Show".Together

This is a Sandi musical legacy feast to celebrate!
