Proving Me Wrong Again

(4 out of 5 stars)
"Two years after being "introduced" by electronica compilation giant, Global Underground (on their Nubreed series), Sander Kleinenberg makes his debut on the other UK label electronica compilation giant, Renaissance.
This album once again teaches me an invaluable lesson in the world of electronica. You really can't pre-judge a commercial compilation solely by the DJ featured. Yes, most of the worlds top DJ's are known to have their own signature style for mixing and genre preferences. Yes, sometimes the series' theme of certain compilation labels will influence the featured DJ's track selection. However, in the end...it's all about the final product which is a sum of the tracks, their sequence, the mixing, and the set as a whole.
Sander Kleinenberg invalidates my previous comment about his sets "lacking versatility and depth" with this album (although the comment was directed towards his live sets versus his commericial productions). On this Renaissance debut, he primarily focuses on house music (with the occasional trance and techno track), hitting nearly all subgenres from soulful funk to progressive. Now that's versatility and depth!
Both disc 1 and disc 2 get 4/5 stars and will have me re-thinking my personal biases against other DJ's."
