Beautiful translation of experience to music

"I bought this CD when the composer, Lee Johnson, came to visit my university in Oregon. The DVD will be really special, but until that is available, the music is a wonderful treat. The music on the first piece - Symphony No. 5 - was inspired by the composer's swimming lessons with whales and dolphins and schools of other amazing sea creatures. Some of these sounds come into his music, not as background, but as a primary part of the score. He also uses the human voice to a very nice effect, borrowing words from the Torah and from Psalms. I am not religious, yet even I listen to this music whenever I need something peaceful. If you get to see this music with the incredible imagery of the DVD, you'll be doubly impressed.
The second composition on the CD - Colours of a Soul - is something completely different, and very good for giving a balanced picture of Lee Johnson. Colours of a Soul is much more playful and lively than Sand Floor Cathedral, so you will enjoy it for very different reasons.
All in all, the entire CD is an excellent choice for anyone who wants to hear something beautiful while reading, writing, meditating, drinking tea, or looking out the window. Sand Floor Cathedral is wonderfully soothing, and Colours of a Soul will snap you out of a funk, get you dressed and ready for a night out."
