CD ReviewsSweet Jazz Doesn't Get Sweeter than This! 10/11/1999 (5 out of 5 stars) "The SFSO, like the Royal Society Orchestra, faithfully reproduces the "Sweet Jazz" sounds of the likes of Paul Whiteman and Gus Arnheim. The SFSO is the "sweetest" of the authentic groups of this era: the 16 member band contains two violinists, for example. The hot Bix-like cornet of Bob Schultz is a special treat, along with the laid-back (slightly Bing Crosby like) vocals of Ed Rosenback (and the Starlight Boys--a Rhythm Boys sort of group) make this a Paul Whiteman fan's paradise." 1920's hot danceband music done very well Steven Miller | Boyle Heights, CA (Gang Captial of LA) | 12/22/2003 (5 out of 5 stars) "Without copying exactly the bands of the 20's, SFSO sounds authenticly like a dance orchestra fro mthe 1927! They feature a lot of hot soloists and revive the music in a creative way. This is a fun band o see live, because the music takes you back to another era! Unlike other bands such as Squirrel Nut Zippers, the ydo not add rock or todays music's influnces in thier music. This is truly a great set of 20's tunes that are not performed everyday, in fact thier are more obscurities here, rather then "Ain't She Sweet" and "Five Foot Two" for the billionth time. Fine 1920's flavoured pop and dance music, done authenticly without sounding too stale..."
