"Hinton takes popular tunes from around the nation and shares them with us. Rhyming games, Appalachian folk classics, ghost stories, New England's ballads all turn into the most marvelous children's music. Simply accompanied on the guitar, Hinton's homey voice is friendly, familiar and wise without losing his sense of play. This record is vastly superior to almost any that might tempt you: it is a window on the soul of our nation in its youth, a playful sing along record, and a treasure."
Wonderful songs to make memories by

"While preparing for my 1st childs arrival into the world I started to think about my childhood memories and songs I would want to share with her. I remembered a favorite tape my mother had played for me that was full of imagery and expression. The songs were fun to sing-a-long to and some were so silly that you couldn't help but laugh out loud. My mother and I brainstormed and just couldn't remember who the artist was. One day while going through some old things I came upon a bunch of tapes and the "one" was there, it was Sam Hinton. This album is wonderful and so fun. Hinton's voice is unique and his harmonies are unforgetable. Don't miss out on this amazing album and songs your children will never forget."
Cultural Treasure

"I had the record as a child, and the songs have stuck with me all of my life. It had been a while since I had heard Hinton sing them (rather than conduct a self performance), so I was amazed to rediscover how technically proficient Hinton is. I consider this recording a cultural treasure. I would recommend it to everyone, but perhaps especially to southerners as it expresses so much of the folksy tradition, eccentric humor and soulful sensibilty of the South.

Simplicity rules!

"I purchased this cd after hearing it praised on NPR (they featured a story that discussed children's recordings.)
It is a simple recording-- a man and his guitar. He sings well-known songs-- no gimicky sound effects, no electric guitars, drum sets or synthesizers.
My niece and nephew listened to the cd with me during winter break and IMMEDIATELY "stole" it from me. They were singing these tunes around the house all day and constantly played it both in the house and the car. This simple recording of folk songs sung by a master STORYTELLER has captured the attention of a new generation. BUY THIS CD for your kids-- it's great stuff!"
Terrific for all ages!

"We did not know Hinton's work but ordered on a whim for our grandson. When we played it, we couldn't stop and listened again and again. These are wonderfully engaging and a must for anyone with children or grandchildren."
