Synopsis

Product Description
The music of Ryebender is shaped by the musical journey of its members, with influences ranging from roots rock, pop and country, to folk, bluegrass and Irish music. The result is an unusual openness to diversity and personal songwriting with a refreshing ability to create genre bending arrangements that defy convention. It is familiar Americana and Alt-country, but yet somehow different.
Hollow and Drifting was Newcomer of the Year 2008 (#7) and Honorable Mention for Best Alt-Country Albums of 2008 by Radio Free Americana.
It also received 4 ½ out of 5 stars Maverick Country Magazine and 3 out of 4 stars by Muzikreviews.com.
Bootleg Magazine had this to say;The four-piece sounds a lot like Son Volt and Blue Mountain-esque alternative-country albeit with a bit more polish. What separates Ryebender sonically are rich harmonies present on every track. The musicianship is impressive and the band is tight, but the songwriting is what really makes this record.

CD Reviews

Road Music

"I posted a review yesterday after reading 3 others. Now they have disappeared into the Amazon Triangle.

This is a great CD. Americana, grit, honest lyrical images, back of the neck hair raising harmony vocals, and wonderful guitar tones. Plug this into your car music machine and hit the road. You'll be cross country before you know it, and smiling the entire way. Good pacing, upbeat, downbeat, but always with a beat. I first heard this group on Garage Band as Boxcar and was knocked out by Whiskey and Caffeine. The rest of the album holds up to that initial promise. I love it when I get to "discover" new bands before they hit it big time. If you like good music, buy this record. Buy it now. Do not wait. Life is too short for American Idol to sell us our taste."
Great Selection of Tunes

"Americana music to be enjoyed by anyone who enjoys honest, well-written music. The songs range from roots rock in I Was Wrong and Your Time Has Come and Gone, to a bit more of a country twang in One Horse Town and Starbound. Gravity gives you a nice duet that will keep you coming back.

You won't be disappointed with this CD."
A bit of something for everyone.

"Honest and thought-provoking indie songs in the spirit of Drive By Truckers and Ryan Adams.

Guitar work is a great blend of twang, but with a nice edge and album is full of instrumental surprises from fiddle and accordion, to mellotron, banjo, lap steel and b-bender for texture. The writing ranges from the creative wordplay of a good country song to the searing heartfelt side with lots of landscapes in between.

Americana/Alt-Country music fans who are looking for something new, maybe more serious than traditional country music will not be disappointed.
