CD Reviews

A great song with solid bonus tracks

""So Alive" is a great song, one of the best from the "Rock and Roll" album. If you're only after this one song then this CD-single is a good way to get it. Not only do you get the song and the video, you also get two bonus tracks: "Ah Life" and "Don't Even Know Her Name." These are both good rock and roll songs, though both have a more rock-a-billy/twangy feel to them compared to the tracks on "Rock and Roll" which might be why they weren't included on the album. Both songs are uptempo numbers, so fans looking for more of Adams' sad offerings like the title song from "Rock and Roll" won't find them here. Die-hard fans will want the bonus tracks from this disc, but someone who has just heard one or two songs from "Rock and Roll" should go ahead and buy the full length CD."
So not cost-effective, but so good

""So Alive" is a great track, certainly one of my favorites from Ryan Adams' "Rock and Roll" album. With the full-length CD pretty reasonably priced, I am not sure why someone would shell out the money for this CD single unless they are, like me, huge Ryan Adams fans who want all of his songs. "I'm Coming Over" really is a good song, but expensive when you consider the cost of this CD. However, "I'm Coming Over" has great emotional intensity and although it isn't in the same vein as the title track from "Rock and Roll" it is a number with a slower tempo and a more haunting feel than many of the full length's tracks. Personally I love the song, but if you're new to Ryan Adams I suggest you pick up the full length CD if you are just interested in the song "So Alive.""
