A risky attempt yet "Royal Hunt" have an ace up their sleeve

"It is very common nowadays for heavy metal-hard rock acts to record sequels of their most successful albums. "Royal Hunt" attempts the same with "Collision Course". Still the band does not rip of parts from the original release, rather creates something musically different but just as substantial; this album is also the first to feature groundbreaking American lead singer Mark Boals (ex Malmsteen, ex "Ring of fire", "The Codex").

The brilliance of this album lies within the fact that while every track has its own identity, the succession of songs flows harmoniously with admirable cohesion subsequently making this release sound like a music journey divided in chapters. In this album the guitar is the protagonist instrument, not the keyboards; still all attention goes undeniably to Boals. If you have heard Mark's previous works it should come as no surprise that this guy "decimates" all previous RH singers.

I am not a huge "Royal Hunt" fan, still this is the first Rh album that kept me from skipping songs and couldn't help but stay gripped from start to finish.
