CD ReviewsBig band bash B. London | Chicago | 04/20/2003 (5 out of 5 stars) "This is a killer, superdupper album that meshes Roy Hamilton's fabulous vocals with two big bands that swing, swing, swing. One album is arranged by Marion Evans and I've heard his work before on other Hamilton albums and the other arranger is Neal Hefti who is reknowned for his work with Stan Kenton, Woody Herman, Harry James and especially Count Basie. The liner notes unfortunately reveal the presence of only one musician-the venerable Milt Hinton. But I betcha the Hefti sides are accompanied by lots of Basieites in studio, the sound which is superb, rushes forth with the creamy sax and exciting brass of Count Basie. The songs are great American standards from songwriters of stature, and Roy Hamilton's big, bold voice is "Right There" as the big band swingsters would quip. This is yet another tremendously fine hunk of artistry and appreciated more than even when recorded in 1959 for the sorry, uncouth, uncool music foisted on us presently. Rob Zombie, Marilyn Manson, Slipknot etc. please go away. Dig this as an antidote and you will rrrefreshed like never before."
