Synopsis

Album Description
Band founders Char and Robby Rothschild have created music that ranges from Balkan and West African styles, to traditional Appalachian music, and from Celtic to funk. They have played in Tokyo with the Old Moscow Circus, toured Australia with the Afro-funk band Panjea, and recorded with Latif Bolat and Flamenco legend Ottmar Liebert. They are joined on this debut album by renowned bassist Jon Gagan, known for his work with Ottmar Liebert. Truth And Darkness is a lively mixture of ceremony and irreverence, of exuberance and reflection. Beneath all of these unlikely marriages, a certain warmth remains to unify their sound and their message. The end result is an overwhelming feeling of kinship. This spirit extends to their live shows as these musical styles, audiences, and the artists themselves are united in a Round Mountain performance.

CD Reviews

Be prepared to dance

(5 out of 5 stars)

"These guys are really great - folk, world sound with meaningful lyrics. Perhaps what I like most is their incorporation of a traditional balkan gypsy kind of sound into something for the fan of 21st century folk/world music. Their demeanor on and off stage makes me think when they studied with the gypsies, they just pulled a log up to the fire and joined in.

go see them perform and be prepared to dance. If you refuse to dance in public you will struggle with quelling an urge.

Either way, buy this cd, put it your home player and dance (and sing) night and day!

If you must choose between "Truth and Darkness" and their self-titled debut release - get "Truth and Darkness." The debut is foreplay compared to the big shibang that "Truth and Darkness" will deliver!
