Rosine travels along some of the same avenues explored by bandleader Mark Lerner in his previous band, NYC folk-punk cult heros Flat Old World: lots of instruments, lots of vocalists, and cross-pollination between American folk idioms (bluegrass, old-time music), Jamaican music (reggae, dub), and ye olde punke rocke. "A smart and heartful country-and-eastern sound," is how one critic put it.
