Synopsis
Product Description Every few years, the hip-hop movement reinvents itself through the rising of the next generation of MCs. The old school planted the roots of the genre and over the past three decades, the game has seen the range of artists from EPMD to Eminem and survived the fierce confrontation of the East and the West, as well as the emergence of the South. Now, the time has come for the next reinvention of the new hip-hop era. At the forefront of this movement is Roscoe Umali, one of the sharpest MCs to have ever blessed the mic. In their basic form, MCs are classified into three categories; the battle MC, the storytelling MC and the party MC. With his masterful rhyme schemes, slick delivery, and instinctive ability to get the crowd live with his one of a kind voice, Roscoe brings together all elements of the term MC in a way that has not been seen since the Golden Era of Hip-Hop. In the short span of a year he has redefined the meaning of hustle by collaborating with hip-hop icons such as E40, Talib Kweli , Raekwon the Chef, Smiff and Wesson , DJ Q-bert, Apl De Ap, Murphy Lee, and Westcoast Kam. His unbelievable industry buzz has also led to collaborations with multi-platinum producers: FOCUS (Aftermath), DJ MUGGS (Cypress Hill), DJ KHALIL(SelfScientific, JayZ, G-UNIT, The Game), Jellyroll (Snoop Dogg, Dr. DRE), DK ALL DAY (Ludacris), as well as some of the hottest up-and-coming beatsmiths: AMIL G, 1500 or Nuthin', and Tech Beats. Follow as we enter the world of a true master: Roscoe Umali is next! |
CD ReviewsA must for hip hop fans! hiphopfan | St Louis, MO | 01/02/2008 (5 out of 5 stars) "Check this out...
it's been awhile since a rappers put out some good music. ima give you the lowdown on this cd. Not your ordinary mixtape. starts out with ON da bloc with akon. roscoe's set to be doing big things if he's working with akon. of course he's got a Wake up show intro since it was the world famous wake up show that put him on the map. Last time they had a rapper on the wake up show for so long, he was some white kid out of Detroit-- aka Eminem. Couple tracks with my man talib kweli. one track with Apl de ap from the black eyed peas. 'strip for me' with murphy lee. he's also got a track with DJ qbert. of course, it's also got Live it up with e40 and bobby valentino, which has been catching fire on the west coast. I did some research on roscoe. he's doing the independent thing out on the west coast. he's also got a growing fan base in the midwest and the south." |
