"Umm, Huh? Many of these songs sound WAY different from the old cassette I have of this album -- especially one of my favorite songs by Rory -- Ain't too good -- this version is missing the lyrics from the bridge entirely!!!
NOT what I was expecting when I got this CD. Look for the original -- much better versions of the songs."
Remastered vs Original Mix

"This is Rory's 5th studio solo album and to me it is his best (I have 'em all with "Jinx" being 2nd best to me). However, the remastered cd version with the bonus tracks isn't as good as the original version. I agree with what learn4ever wrote in their review, it doesn't sound the same. My favorite tune from Rory is "At The Bottom" and on the remastered version there is added slide guitar parts that isn't on the original version. Also, whoever remastered this cd deleted the last verse that says "Takes a fall to land you on your knees..." and used what sounds like an outtake vocal of the first vocal line. If you can find the Castle label or Intercord label cd version of this(it costs more) you will get the original album version mix. With that being said, the remastered version isn't bad, it gives you a little different sound of "Against The Grain".
If you're new to Rory and want to check him out, I would suggest to start with his 2nd solo effort "Deuce"(fantastic guitar playing). Your best bet would be to buy the "Original Album Classics". You get 5 classic cd's from Rory (with "Deuce" & "Jinx" being in that set) for not too much money. Enough of my rambling, Long Live Rory Gallagher!!"
