"Back in the early 1970s. while a grad student at The Ohio State University, I was an announcer at a small radio station in Lancaster, Ohio. WHOK programmed a soft and easy "beautiful music" format, and (unlike the radio stations of today) all the announcers were "live". I worked weekends, and still remember the hour drive from Columbus, settling into the studio, and starting my show with a Ronnie Aldrich track.
This CD, I'm happy to report, brought back a flood of pleasant memories. Back then, hearing these songs on huge studio monitors at the radio station was thrilling -- but the vinyl LPs were inevitably scratched, with "pops" and nicks distorting the sound. These remastered CD recordings are clean and clear, displaying the wide dynamic range that London's "Phase-4" recording process could capture. It's clear that meticulous care was taken during the entire remastering process, and what emerges is a level of audio fidelity that was impossible to capture on vinyl at the time these recordings were originally released. While there are a few audio distortions, which are inherent in the analog recording format of the era, the overall sound is astonishingly crisp.
This package of two CDs represents music from a different time. Other than satellite radio, it's hard to find a commercial radio station playing a true "beautiful music" format, with an emphasis on instrtumental cover versions of pop hits. If you miss that syle of relaxing, easy listening music, you'll find that these recordings by Ronnie Aldrich will bring all of those memories right back to you.
They did for me!"
Good Music Lives Again!

"Every Chance I get, I expand my CD collection of "Easy
Listening" Music. Artists such as Ronnie Aldrich, Percy Faith,
Mantovani, Ferrante and Teicher and Bert Kaempfert epitomized
what "Adult Listening" was all about. Kudos to Decca/Vocalion
for remastering the artistry of Ronnie Aldrich. During his
recording career, the late Mr. Aldrich was one of the major
artists on the London Phase 4 label. During the late 60's
and through the 70's and 80's, Beautiful Music/Easy Listening
stations wishing to freshen and update their sound, included
selections by artists such as Ronnie Aldrich. And, as other
reviewers have touched upon, the 90's brought much change to
radio with large group ownerships and a virtual abandonment of
the Easy Listening/Beautiful Music formats, with only a small
amount of stations still retaining this type of music. If
you enjoy excellent instrumental versions of contemporary hits
of the past get these 2 CD's, and you will find yourself buying
more."
TWO NEWS LP'S FROM RONNIE FOR US!

"This album in Europa was titled "Togertherness" and for us, in America were "Here come the hits!" and "Close to you". The art of the cover is very good, very different from that London choose in the 70's for the American audiency.
The titles are same, in the same order. Many superb music, and each song is 1A. I really love "close to you".
Please, enjoy the 24 songs. Each one has the touch of the genius from Ronnie Aldrich and the sound Decca/Phase 4!"
RONNIE ALDRICH - KING OF EASY LISTENING PIANO

"I FIRST HEARD RONNIE ALDRICH ON A CHICAGO EASY LISTENING FM RADIO STATION BACK IN 1968. AND THE EARLIEST SONG THAT I CAN REMEMBER HIM PLAYING AND THE ONE THAT MADE ME FALL IN LOVE WITH A LOT OF HIS MUSIC, WAS THE NUMBER 12 TRACK ON THIS CD ("MY HEART REMINDS ME"). YOU MIGHT KNOW THIS SONG AS "AND THAT REMINDS ME" (A HUGE HIT MADE BY DELLA REESE). THE OTHER GREAT SONG IS THE NUMBER 1 TRACK ON THIS CD "AIRPORT LOVE THEME". THIS IN MY OPINION IS THE BEST VERSION OF THIS SONG EVER MADE. I FIRST HEARD IT BACK IN SEPTEMBER 1984 ON AN EASY LISTENING FM RADIO STATION IN CHICAGO. WHY CAN'T WE HEAR THIS KIND OF MUSIC ON THE FM RADIO ANYMORE?"
