Album DescriptionA unique program of great Romantic piano masterpieces, including Igor Roma's own arrangement of the Alkan work based on Aesop's Fables. Roma, a winner of many international piano competitions, started his successful career in 1996 when he won the first prize at the International Competition Franz Liszt in Utrecht, where his performance convinced the jury not to award the second prize, so the other two finalists divided the third prize. His repertoire is very wide; he plays both Bach and Messiaen, and includes less-known pieces by Szymanovsky, Kurtag, and Falla. Igor Roma has played with many famous orchestras and conductors in Europe, Africa, and Asia. His concerts have been often broadcast live on TV. He has also participated at various international festivals. He has performed with colleagues at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam before Queen Beatrix. They played also in New York's Lincoln Center. Igor Roma also frequently plays chamber music with renowned musicians.
