"The Center City Brass Quintet has a real beauty of a recording with "Romantic Music for Brass".
The playing is superb and the clever arrangement of Felix Mendelssohn's quartet no. 1, OP. 12 sounds like it was written for the group.All five musicians carry their weight evenly on this great recording. This is probably the best recording of the classic Sextet by Oskar Bohme, this time with 3 trumpets in the group. It sparkles while featuring trumpeter Geoffrey Hardcastle along with horn, trombone and tuba. The Ewald quintet No. 3 is well known to brass players and is presented here with a warm, relaxed approach and has some of the most musical playing I've heard from a quintet. The balance and musicality is first rate and these from Cleveland, Anthony DiLorenzo, Geoffrey Hardcastle, Richard King, Steven Witser, Craig Knox with guest Jack Sutte deserve a huge thumbs up for this recording.
