"No one since Kate Smith belted it out like Roger Doucet. If you never heard Roger Doucet sing the bilingual version of O Canada, you haven't lived. For those who don't know, Doucet used to sing it before Montreal Canadiens games at the old Forum, and it was worth the price of admission or, in my case, being sure to turn on the TV or radio in time to hear it. "Stirring" doesn't begin to describe it. While the Forum organ was better than the cheesy arrangement here, on this cd (obviously issued to correspond with the 1976 Olympics in Canada) you also get such gems as the old Soviet anthem (which was such a great tune they couldn't get rid of it, they still use it albeit with new words) and the Marseillaise, and even some surprisingly tender renditions of Hatikva and Yerushalim Shel Zahav. You actually get not one but three (!) versions of O Canada (English, French, and bilingual). And you know what, it doesn't get old. And I'm not even Canadian!
This might not be one of the 100 greatest records ever made, but I wouldn't be without it.
ps I just noticed that it says "Andre Doucet" in the review title, which doesn't come from me, but rest assured it most definitely is a recording of Roger Doucet. have no idea where that error could have come from."
YOU MUST HEAR THIS!

"TO HEAR MR. DOUCETS BILINGUAL VERSION OF O CANADA IS A TREAT OF TREATS, I WISH THIS COULD BE A RECORDING FROM A HOCKEY GAME..
IN THE FIRST CANADA CUP SERIES ROGER DOUCET SANG THE ANTHEMS
OF ALL 6 COUNTRYS IN THIER OWN LANGUAGE. (AMAZING) HE WAS ONE OF THE GREATEST TALENTS OF ALL TIME.."
