Synopsis
Album Description
Beautiful melodies by a whiskey-voiced, street poet troubadour.
"Over the last few years some of my favorites--Lucinda, Hiatt, and Lyle--seem to have faded a bit. Mr. Picott has filled that void just about by himself. He does mellow, mid-tempo, and rockin' all very well, with thoughtful lyrics and well drawn characters. Think Don Henley, but with more consistent lyrical depth and nary a synthesizer to be found.
In general, when I buy music I am happy if half the songs are solid. Nine of these twelve are outstanding, and eleven are solid. His debut, Tiger Tom Dixon's Blues, is also an amazing record. Time will tell, but I have a feeling these two disks will sit up in my all time top ten along with records like Steve Earle's El Corazon, Springsteen's Nebraska, Sticky Fingers by the Stones, and Making Movies by Dire Straits. Buy this!"

"There's a reason you don't see any negative reviews for Rod Picott; he's one of the best newer talents on the scene. His music is rootsy with bluesy, rock edges. This guy's songwriting is what sets him apart though; he's a great wordsmith, & an excellent musician. Get all of his stuff, & I highly recomend his live disc which is available at his web-site www.rodpicott.com. He's also one of the nicest guys in the music business."
What a wonderful surprise!

"This is some of the wittiest songwriting I've come across in years! My favorites are different than the other reviewers; Baby Blue, Find Your Way Home, Up All Night; but I agree that the entire collection is way above average. This CD has become my new touchstone for de-stressing that drive home. I also am sharing this with anyone who'll listen. What a huge oversight that a major label hasn't picked this guy up!"
A must-have CD!

"This is a great CD. A touch of Petty, Springsteen, and John Hiatt. I especially love the sweet "Angels & Acrobats", rockin' "Workshirts and Turpentine", haunting "Need You Bad", and toe-tapping "I Coulda Been the King". But the last two tracks, "Not Going Down" and "River Runs", really showcase Picott's strong songwriting ability. "Stray Dogs" is masterfully written, with memorable melodies. What more can you ask for? Go and get this CD!"
