Synopsis

Album Description
Four track CD pressing of this EP by the former Cocteau Twins guitarist. Guthrie's guitar style and production has influenced a new generation of musicians, many who aren't afraid to confess their love for all he does. Fans are drawn to his moody, atmospheric work, which is just a part of what makes him one of the most admired musicians to emerge from the UK in the '80s. Songs To Help My Children Sleep features four new songs not available on his recent Carousel album: 'Laughter In The Dark', 'Fireflies', 'White Bear In Honolulu' and 'Misty'. Digipak printed with soy based ink on 100% recycled board with aqueous coating.

"In just over one year's time:

Two gorgeous full length albums (Carousel and the wonderful collaboration with John Foxx "Mirrorball")

Two outstanding ep's (Angel Falls and Songs to Help My Children Sleep)

One incredible soundtrack release (3:19 Bande Originale du Film)

One more ep on the way (Sunflower Stories)

Is this the year of the Robin or what?

Initially I was sort of irritated that Carousel, Angel Falls, And Songs to Help My Children Sleep were not combined as one stupendous jam packed album. I quickly fell in love with each release, so that criticism is gone for me. Particularly in the age of digital downloads. Who cares if I paid 99 cents a track? Well worth that price and more.

Carousel and Angel Falls find Robin at his most Cocteau-ish since going solo. I love both of these releases.

Songs To Help My Children Sleep is my favorite of this year's crop. Which is hard to say actually. This is the perfect autumn release. It feels like coming in from the cool October air to a warm fire and just basking, melting in that change of sensation. Shimmering, beautiful, airy, and light. Sort of reminds me of Robin's work with Harold Budd. Buy this now!!

My only negative criticism: Each release is too short. Even with all this coming out so close together, I still want more."
