CD Reviews

A Remarkable Hip Single

"What makes this Robin Gibb single unusual is that it is the first Gibb single to ever be released that was NOT written by a Gibb (not including two "Sgt. Pepper's" cover singles from 1978). It's strong with a black male rap back-up, several female overdubs (with Robin) and a funky, romantic beat that will put Robin Gibb back in the spotlight. It also marks the last collaboration between Robin and his late twin Maurice. The lyrics are tragically associative with the loss of Maurice (coincidentally). It's beautiful and heartbreaking."
Robin Gibb - Excellent!!!

"What songs are some of the other reviewers listening to??? The entire "Magnet" CD - which these songs are taken from - is nothing short of brilliant. Sure it's a little different sound than we might have expected, but that may be what makes these songs so good - So solid. I was a little surprised with the first listen, too, but great artists don't rest on their past. Robin has managed to gracefully move into today's music and taken it far beyond what most can only hope to achieve. I've kept "Magnet" in my CD changer for the past two months and each time I hear these songs again I'm mezmerized by Robin's talent and artistry. There's an aura of mystery to many of these songs and Robin's voice is the instrument that makes them work so effectively. Every song on the CD is worthy of being a single. It's a great album and I hope Robin continues to push the envelope and give us songs like this. For listenability, it's the best album of the year."

""Please" is a very moving song. Robin's voice is very passionate. It's amazing that a voice that turned people on in the 60's, can still sound so fresh and new."
