What a Voice

"This solo effort from one-time Journey and Vinnie Vincent Invasion frontman Robert Fleischman deserves more than 3 stars. It may be relatively formulaic AOR, but it's GOOD formulaic AOR. The kind that makes you miss the glory days of Journey, Boston, and Foreigner.
World in Your Eyes has some fantastic songs, of which the title track, Heaven to Me, and Just One Kiss are the best. Even the "worst" songs on this album are still pretty good. Fleischman's voice is the real highlight of the album. He sounds both warm and powerful at the same time, and at times sounds exactly like Peter Gabriel (which can't be a bad thing). Maybe I just don't have an ear for that kind of thing, but I don't see any problems with Kelly Hansen's production job. His background vocals were a nice addition too. And after that Vinnie Vincent album, it's nice to hear Fleischman singing something a bit more adult than "Shoot You Full of Love".
All in all, this is another great Frontiers release, and is sure to please most (OK, maybe not that last guy) AOR/melodic rock fans."
A worthy album

"World in Your Eyes is Robert Fleischman's second full-length solo album. It was released in 2002 and is comprised of ten songs that are in a straight-ahead rock musical direction. I find the songwriting to be satisfying, the musicianship to be solid, and the sound quality to be nice. Fleischman does well with his meat-and-potatoes vocal delivery. The guitar work is gratifying throughout, and there is only minimal keyboard playing. Even though I think that all of the tracks are listenable, my favorite ones are "Heaven to Me" and "Words Aren't Enough." "Heaven to Me" has a catchy chorus, and "Words Aren't Enough" features a memorable intro, pleasing keyboard work, and an engaging, well-crafted guitar solo. Along with the song lyrics, the CD booklet also includes photos of Fleischman and other various illustrations. There is an illustration behind the CD tray and another photo of Fleischman on the back of the CD jewel case. The disc is just over 45 minutes. World in Your Eyes is a recommendable piece of work from Robert Fleischman."
