Excellent compositions and worthy performances

"This is a very good CD. If you have tried any of Barto's Weiss volumes and liked them, then this should be an automatic purchase.
As with the Weiss recordings, I feel the sound could be warmer, with more emphasis on the bass, but that is the only quibble.
The music is very attractive and might well be described as somewhat Weiss-like, though with a slightly sunnier character. Barto's performances are clean and assured.
The low price of the CD offers an ideal opportunity to investigate Hagen's high-quality music."
Another stellar performance.

"Mr. Barto does it again, completing the known solo works ( except for a few lighter odds & ends ) This disc has some of Mr. Hagen's better works despite the lower price. All the more reason to start with this set if you want to take a gamble on some obscure sounds. I hope Mr. Barto will now turn his attention to recording the wealth of Hagen's and other's ensemble music from the same manuscript as the solo sonatas were contained. Can't wait to hear the Toeschi concerto, horns and all. ( hint-hint )"
