"In stark contrast to his piano albums is 2,000 A.D. INTO THE FUTURE, a set of 9 tunes intended to accompany a series of "futuristic films". One listen and I was hooked-- this is among my most-played and top favorite Wakeman albums! This is one of those I can't ever seem to get enough of, and shows Rick at a real peak. Accompanied by Stuart Sawney's "percussion programming" (something that really fits here) this has me wishing Wakeman would do more film scores. I'm reminded of some of the 80's DOCTOR WHO soundtracks, and it's a shame the BBC yanked their biggest moneymaker off the air, as this is just the sort of music that could bring a show like that up a few levels. For more in a similar vein, also check out WAKEMAN WITH WAKEMAN and ROCK N' ROLL PROPHET PLUS, which has 4 newer tracks that mesh well with the style heard here."

"Maybe a bit too far into the future. A little too electronic. Or maybe it was done for the robots. They would probably enjoy it more than us humans. I like Rick when he is more earthly, and slows down and takes his time. Maybe he was running out of time when he did this. Maybe I need to play it more often, but it did not grab me like Lord of the Rings did instantly as the work of a passionate, thinking, brilliant man."
