A pointless repackage of the brilliant "Anthology"

"Unfortunately, now over 6 months after Rick James' untimely death, Motown/Universal have not put much effort in re-releasing his back catalog on CD. Of his albums, only a few are still in print, the out of print ones sound pretty badly as they were mastered in the 80's and "Love Gun", "Garden Of Love" and "Glow" have never ever been released on CD.
Instead we get "Gold", which is basically a repackaged version of the superior "Anthology" from 2002. It has almost the same liner notes and a very similar track listing, shamefully omitting several tracks or favoring single edits instead of the album versions that are on "Anthology". The remastering also seems the same as the "Anthology" set, so why bother releasing "Gold"? Universal could have lowered the list price of "Anthology" if they wanted a more affordably priced 2-cd set. Most casual fans would opt for a single disc best of anyway.
So powers that be at Universal (HW!!!): do us Rick James fans and especially Rick James himself some justice by releasing stuff the fans want!"
It's useless 2 keep on releasing the hits...

"This is not actually a repackaging of Anthology, as it contains 6 fewer tracks. At around 100 minutes, it's skimpy for a 2CD set, but the price is right."

"yes these music Companys be milking these Same Packages like a Diary plant does with Cows, but still this is a Must have Collection. Rick James was One of the Baddest Artists Ever. He had his own concepts, visions&Details about creating his sound. I have all of His Albums.i have certain things that I dig more than others but what is represented here is Top Tier all the way. Rick understood how to write about his feelings&Life along with keeping it Funky&just blending styles together. He was the last King of Funk.Rick was something else&will never be forgotten. His Music has caught on with a whole different audience. He is the Most Sampled Artist in Hip-Hop easily over the past decade. Rick always had that feel good music that also spoke on the Hood&what was going on.Props,Daps,Claps&DoorBell Rangs to Soul Brother Rick James RIP."
Ugh!

"Ok the prob I have with the re-re-re-releases in the GOLD series is not with the music. I think Universal is smart to mine their catalog, if suckers keep buying em.
But if you're going to dig, dig deep and give us the stuff that's not already been comp'd to death.
For starters: Bustin Out is only available as an import.
Fire It Up, Garden of Love, and Cold Blooded have never been on cd as far as I know. Ditto Glow and the Flag where RJ clearly was past his prime. Point being there's a market for the original albums out there. Give the people what they want, not what they already have.
I see now there's a J5, Donna Summer, Parliament, and Kool and the Gang GOLD series as well.
So, to clarify, the musice 5 stars, the GOLD series 0 stars.
