Power blues
L. B. Ivarsson | Rock City | 02/03/2003
(3 out of 5 stars)

"On "Electra blues", Rick Derringer gives us a demonstration in heavy power blues. The vocal is raw and unpolished and the amp seems to be turned up to ten. It's obvious that Derringer loves playing the guitar, and it seems his motto is: "The louder the better!" The album sure has its moments but in the long run it gets rather boring since there's little variation. If you like some power blues this one will probably satisfy your needs. And if you can't get enough, then you can try out PAT TRAVERS more recent albums (for example "Blues tracks" and "Halfway to somewhere"), and maybe JOHNNY WINTER's "Let me in" and "Hey, where's your brother?" And why not GARY MOORE's "Still got the blues" and "After hours"..."
New blues at its best

"rick derringer plays the blues!!!! there is not one bad track on this album. i have played many of these songs at various venues and the response is always positive. rick rocks the blues with a vengance and a style akin to stevie ray vaughan. i am constantly asked where i dug up 'that unknown stevie ray song'. when i tell them who it is, they make it a point to actually write down the name of the ablum so they can purchase it and want to hear more. what better praise for an album than to have people wanting to hear it and buy it!!!! if you haven't got this album in your blues(blues/rock) collection, it ain't complete . . . if you have heard it and don't have it yet, "all you want to do is cry"."
One Great Song

"Rick's follow up to Back To The Blues really flops.
Hard to believe but true.
If It's The Blues is the one great song on the CD. Some others have viablility but they get lost in the hodge podge of throw aways that clutter this hapless album."
