Solid, but less adventurous than usual

"Keep in mind when hearing this release that you are hearing Richie Hawtin, not Plastikman. They may be one in the same in terms of personnel, but they have very different musicial visions. Hawtin tends to create hard, repetitive techno tracks equally influenced by both sides of the Atlantic. Tracks of this release can be heard mixed into the "Decks EFX 909" mix CD he released a few months after this. The best aspect of the release, for better or worse, is its packaging; it's part of the 20' to 2000' series that Raster was releasing for some time. The CD itself is only a 3" disc, but it comes within a standard sized clear plastic outer ring to make it playable in any CD player (originally a drawback of the smaller format). The case itself is circular, flexible plastic, with a flat hinge on the bottom. As for the music, the tracks clock in at a total of just over 20 minutes, but if you're into harder, more straightforward banging techno tracks, each of these will satisfy you. For more adventurous listeners, I would recommend either his Concept 1 compilation of 12" tracks or the more minimal, austere Plastikman material of late. In any case, as I understand it these 20' to 2000' releases are limited, so if you're interested, get it while you still can."
