"I bought this album used, here at Amazon, in order to get a recorded copy of Eddie Jefferson's wonderful version of New York Afternoon. He's not on that track--it's an instrumental. In fact, Eddie's not on most of the record. I love Richie Cole and am still glad to have the cd, but if you're looking for Eddie--he's not here. I'd sure like to find copies of him singing the title song and others like "Harold's House of Jazz", "Benny's From Heaven", "Common Touch". Any help out there?"

"I found the Richie Cole LP's Keeper of the Flame and Alto Madness. They both have rare Eddie Jefferson tunes. Incredible versions of NY Afternoon and Harold's House of Jazz. On Alto Madness, Hi Fly, Relaxin at Camarillo and Waitin for Waits, with Tom Waits. What can I say, WOW!!! I buned this onto a CD and added the first LP by Howard Tate, Get it While you Can. Anyone who wants a copy, send me an email and we can trade. mwidell@sbcglobal.net"
The immortal Eddie Jefferson!

"This Muse album features the group that altoist Richie Cole and the late singer Eddie Jefferson co-led in the mid-'70s. They had a mutually beneficial relationship, with Cole learning from the older vocalist and Jefferson gaining extra exposure from associating with the popular young saxophonist. Their spirited set, which has two Jefferson vocals, is highlighted by "Waltz for a Rainy Be-Bop Evening," "New York Afternoon," "Stormy Weather" and "Alto Madness."
