"I have been a huge Richard Cheese fan since I heard him a few years ago. I own all of his albums. They swing, baby.

Here's the problem with SSotM: TBoRC -

It is not really a best of album. It's a hodge-podge of tracks. Included are:

*"Big Band Versions" of songs from his first (poorly produced) album with additional instruments dubbed over it...not dubbed well, either.

*A few sparse tracks from his middle 3 albums

*A couple of new tracks that are good, but not as good as his middle 3 albums

*A recycled cover from his list of "spoof" albums that don't really exist

If you are a completist and a fan, then buy this album.

If you are new to Dick, then I recommend the albums in this order:

I'd Like a Virgin

Tuxicity

Apertif for Destruction

Lounge Against the Machine

"Once again Richard Cheese gives us his take on todays music and at times out does the original. As much as I loved the cheesy lounge act synthasizer sound of his first album, he truely shines with the big band.

A note to Robert Williams, Reviewer. You may wish to get your facts straight. Its very hard to find Nine Inch Nails and Nirvana in a rap section of the local store. Nor have I ever heard Closer or Rape Me, let alone Smells Like Teen Spirt or Hurt on any of the far to many hip hop stations there are in this country. If Richard Cheese is as close as you are to modern music then you have certinaly picked an excellent choice, but please do not catagory all his music under rap, some of us find it insulting."

"I have to say, I bought this CD on a Lark, thinking it would be OK, and (pardon the pun) cheesy. It is actually really good. Richard Cheese and his band Lounge Against the Machine takes popular songs from various genres and sings them lounge style. The effect is both impressive and slightly humorous.

This CD will not be for everyone, but if you are looking for a different take on your favorite songs, this is the CD for you."
