"This 2003 recording from Rhoda Scott is a pure joy with great organ playing with Lucien Dobat on drums....like the old days on Barclay Records. After years recording albums on toys (B3000/XB3/SuperB)from Hammond Suzuki Company, she's back on "the beast", the B-3. Even Rhoda singing sound great on the slow down ballad "Don't Worry About Me" Spring", and what makes great organist also great singers (Jimmy Smith, Joey DeFrancesco, Lonnie Smith, Winston Walls)? "Mack The Knife" gets a real speedy treat, and listen to her footwork on the pedals challenging her block chord wizardry! Scott is a master arranger and player of tunes in duo format and the ten remaining tunes is of no exception...from straight 4/4, funk, blues, sacred, gospel and smooth (I guess I forgot a style or two).
This album has the energy and drive that recall the great Barclay recordings of the '70's (not yet reissued) and not to forget the duo recordings with Kenny Clarke (on CD). Get online and order this CD Now - a must!"
