"For those of us who came of age in the early 1960s in or near East Los Angeles will remember the posters announcing recent and upcoming appearances of Rene Touzet on telephone poles throughout the barrio. I never made it to one of his appearances, but when I saw his CD at Sounds of Music on Whittier Blvd. a few years ago I picked it up and have enjoyed it ever since. If you're in the mood for the Latin sounds that inspired the introductory chords to "Louie, Louie", remember "La Pachanga", and appreciate sweet combinations of piano, voices and a full Latin orchestra, this CD of the best from the Cuban-born Touzet are for you. It will bring back his appearances on the Westside of LA, whether your ever made it there or not."
JUST TERRIFIC

"The orchestration of every song are masterfully executed. Mr. Touzet selected typical rithyms of the old Cuba. He mixed "sones" such as "guajiro", "cubano" and "montuno" and utilized a full orchestra whose trombones play a major role in the interpretation and developemnet of the main themes. "La Noche de Anoche" is a "bolero" that made history in the late 50's and was heard in Cuba, Mexico and The United States before president Batista was ousted. I had the original LP album and treasured it for many years. If you enjoy authentic cuban music and musicians such as Buena Vista Social Club memebers: Ruben Gonzalez, Ibrahim Ferrer, Compay Segundo and Roy Coorey, you WILL love this original recording."
Viva Rene ! Your music is as great as ever !

"This magnificent cd brought back memories of the times I was able to sneak in at the Hollywood Palladium and listen to not only Rene Touzet, but such great stars as Tito Puente and La Lupe. These great artists were always introduced by that great m.c., Chico Sesma, who gave to us Chicanos and other Latinos the great sounds of Rene Touzet. To those of you lucky enough to have seen his band play at the old Crescendo on Sunset Blvd., this cd will make you recall the nights when you listened to good Cuban music, with rich, romantic arrangements."
Mr. Rene Touzet you and your music are missed

"With all the music Mr. Touzet recorded, why is their only one CD?
Mr. Gene Norman and the Crescendo label, whats up here? Surely you must have stored his music in a vault. Please bring back his music on CD.
We enjoyed his music at The Zenda Ball Room in Los Angeles, the Hollywood Pallidum and various locations around Los Angeles/Hollywood. At the Hollywood Pallidum I remember being there when he introduced the Pachanga. At that time it wasn't to well received but two years later it was hot.
I have some Touzet LP's, but with all the playing, they are scratchy.
I hope something is done about re-distributing Mr. Rene Touzet's recordings.
Thank You,
M H Beltran"

"Rene Touzet's music wonderfully showcased in this CD. He was one of the great composers and band leaders of Cuban music. It is a shame that there is not more of his music available to the masses. You won't regret buying this CD."
