"This past year, Reggae on the River, arguably the largest and most respected reggae festival in the world, celebrated it's 20th anniversary, and Earthbeat Records celebrated the occasion with a release of some of the various artists who have performed over the past 20 years in California.Starting with a fabulous rendition of Bob Marley's classic 'Jah Live' by Judy Mowatt, the cd goes on a roller coaster from roots to dancehall and beyond, including Michael Franti from Spearhead. The album gives a great potpourri of reggae music, from a calm and soothing "Hold Tight" by Third World, to the hard dancehall "Shy Guy" offered by Diana King. Damian Marley Whereas one first would expect this to be a compilation of live performances, do not go into this expecting such an outcome. This is not live performances at Reggae on The River, but is a great album featuring some of reggae's greatest performers. There are some live performances on this album, but they are few and far between. If you were a reggae novice wanting to find out what all the flavors of reggae music offered, this would be a great start. If you are a reggae veteran who wants a variety album featuring today's hottest artists, this will not dissappoint you."
