Forty years after its creation, the classic Motown sound is reborn again by the Re-Bops in this story about a postal carrier making her rounds and delivering songs and advice at every stop. Even the nemesis of every mail carrier in the country--the ferocious dog--gets to do his Motown number, "Ain't Too Proud to Beg," the old Temptations hit that even those high-class mutts the Rolling Stones once covered. Although the narrative gets drawn out so grownups can stay involved, kids will hang with the story. And everybody will be swaying to those classic Motor City monsters such as "Tears of a Clown," "Shop Around," "You've Got What It Takes," and other hits by the Supremes, Marvin Gaye, Smokey Robinson and the Miracles, and the Jackson 5. Both the kids' and music parts are loosely but likably executed with confidence and charm. Of course, "Please Mr. Postman" opens this special delivery package from Detroit's finest hour. --Martin Keller
