Album DescriptionThe 2004 edition of Mungo Jerry which includes newer members James Davis, Tim Green, Toby Hounsham and Matt Round alongside Ray Dorset is a vibrant R&B band with blues elements and it is certainly comparable to other long-term acts such as the Rolling Stones and Van Morrison. Adults Only features such blues classics as Statesboro Blues/ Morning Dew/With a Girl Like You/Going Down Slow/One Bourbon One Scotch & One Beer and it will be these cuts that feature in the bands live set along with some older material. The album will also contain a bonus track in the re recording of the 1972 hit Open Up. However this version is a radically re worked version from the original hit single which has already found favour in America. Whilst many would like to dwell on the past and the multi million sales of In The Summertime certainly draw attention to the band it should not be seen as the only worthwhile piece of work Ray Dorset has produced indeed Adults Only probably rates as his most mature and dare I say it...Adult work to date. The album comes with full sleeve notes from respected journalist Alan Clayson who was responsible for the original review in the Record Collector magazine. In 2004 Mungo Jerry are playing authentic blues/R&B or in Ray's own words "Music straight from the heart and no bullshit...Music for Adults Only". Adults Only may well surprise newer fans but for those fans who have followed the band for almost thirty five years it will be a reaffirmation of their initial belief in the talent of Ray Dorset.
