CAVEAT: Great CD but AMAZON'S TRACK LIST IS WRONG

"To avoid confusion:
The track listing given by Amazon is incorrect.
I bought this CD (the cover image on my CD is the Taj Mahal silhouette as shown), and the full title is "The Spirit of India: Ravi Shankar Plays Ragas."
Backing performers are Alla Rakha (tabla), Mrs. Jiban & Mrs. Widya (tanpuras.)
The full (correct) track listing is 1. Raga Jogeshwari (4 tracks: alap, Jor, Gat I, Gat II); 2. Raga Hameer (Gat I and Gat I - joined in one long track.)
This CD is a re-release of the self-titled Pandit Ravi Shankar (which contained the 4 parts of Raga Jogeshwari only), except that now you get a 'bonus' track (Raga Hameer). The recordings were originally released on Polydor in 1979 & 1980.
If you want the 3 tracks Amazon listed on this page, you'll find them on another Shankar CD, confusingly also titled Spirit of India (this one has a cover depicting Shankar seated beside his sitar with a blue sky background.)
So, in a nutshell: "Spirit of India: Ravi Shankar Plays Ragas." is a great album, but it doesn't have the tracks as listed by Amazon. If you buy it, you won't need 'Pandit Ravi Shankar'. On the other hand, if you're a fan, you *will* still want to look at the *other* 'Spirit of India.' Either way, if you're buying it used, email the seller first and get them to confirm which tracks are on the disc they're selling--LOL!"
