"This is Raven! And I'm not talking about the cute black psychic chick from the Disney channel either! Raven's one of those NWOBHM bands that got lost in the shuffle, but that doesn't mean they're bad by any means. Imagine a traditional metal band in the vein of Priest or Accept, but with the crunch of a band like Motorhead. It's hard to describe Raven's sound, but that hopefully gives you a bit of an idea. It's not thrash, but hints of it are present. The vocals are high, shrill and Geddy Lee-like. The lyrics are early 80s metal schlock. Basically this is a love em or hate em kind of band. I must say it really rocks though, and it's a pity they never really caught on. All For One is my personal fave. While I like the music on the previous albums, the sound quality was cruddy and makes the band sound kinda thin. This one has good sound and the band sound heavy and crunchy. Not a bad asking price on this one, so if you're curious on expanding your NWOBHM collection, you should be pleasantly surprised by this group."

The album where Raven put it all together

"I have a few of the albums that came before and after this one, but none of them really impressed me. I got this album on cassette back in the days when I would sometimes buy an album just because it looked metal. I usually chose well which was not as hard in the early days of metal before the circus came to town in the mid-late 80s. I only really liked Take Control and Break The Chain but now years later I have come to realize what a great album this is. The production is electric allowing the guitar to crackle and the drums to pound! The re-issue that I have features 15 songs including a few b-sides. The cover of Born To Be Wild is so over the top with John and guest wailer Udo seeing who can outdo the other, it always makes me laugh. Of the 15 tracks I deem 10 to be i-pod worthy. Get it, crank it!"

Another strong Raven album

"Not as good as "Rock until You Drop," due mainly to the weak tracks "Athletic Rock" and "Sledghammer Rock." The stand-out track on this album is "Run Silent Run Deep," which is absolutely awesome. The inclusion of the B-side cover of "Born to be Wild" featuring guest vocals from Accept's Udo Dirkschneider makes this a must-buy; I've heard tons of covers of that song, but this one is the absolute heaviest ever. All in all a strong album."
