"I had no idea that when I bought this album four years ago in New York City for a friend, I would sink into the brilliance and the intimacy that this recording offers. From the very first song, "Prelude", to the last, "La Vallee Des Cloches", Laplante is able to bring out the subtlety in Ravel's music that is so hard to find in the technical 20th and 21st centuries. Some outstanding tracks are "Jeux D'eau", and "Une Barque Sur L'ocean". There's even a nice feel of Spanish music in "Alborada Del Gracioso". Aside from these songs, the entire collection is well worth listening to, and owning. I highly recommend this recording for anyone who is looking for music that goes beyond cold techincality and delves into the world of shimmering intimacy."
