Our American Beat imprint has been on a crusade to resurrect under-appreciated American roots-rock and power pop bands from out-of-print limbo, and this time we re bringing you both varieties rolled up into one band, The Rave-Ups! Led by frontman/lyricist Jimmer Podrasky, this Pittsburgh quartet fused the big ringing chords of power pop with the working-class concerns of roots-rock, and put enough classic rock references (Dylan, Hollies, Beatles, Turtles) into their songs to keep college radio record geeks happy. Despite periodic reunions, these 1988 and 1990 albums remain the last we ve heard from the Rave-Ups; they re some of the best recordings of their kind and era, timeless, classic rock n roll.
