"Kim Waters has an evocative other-worldly beautiful voice that mesmerizes the listener. Her renditions are sincere, humble and most sacred. While unable to discuss how Sanskrit and Bengali *should* sound, each track stands as a pure meditative expression of worship and celebration of Spirit and Life right here in this world. The instruments, sitar, cello, and at times nyckelharpa are superb accompaniment played by Hans Christian. This listener is most pleased to have liner notes as reference with the words included to join this sacred celebration.
The mind is secured by the sitar playing mysterious notes and musical phrases in the introduction to each track ... Kim captures the spirit of the listener with her divine vocalizations carrying the heart and soul into the spiritual realm. Listening to this CD is a devotional practice sure to bring each listener closer to the Source of all Being. Erika Borsos (erikab93)"
New to me...

"This was my introduction to Rasa, and it is totally new music to me. I have no idea of what it is saying, but the melodies and feelings here are very soothing...happy and peaceful. I especially like Prabhupada Padma and Arati. Rasa is definitely a different music, and one I enjoy. I make no pretensions of being serene, religious or the like, but sometimes music is just beautiful for what it does to the mind. This is such a collection for me."

"The music is beautiful, I'm not familiar with the Gita words, She sings beautiful."
Early Rasa favorites, expanded and enhanced!

"This live performance features expanded versions of four songs from Rasa's debut album, "Union," three from their follow up CD, "Devotion," and one new selection done in the same style: "Prabhupada Padma" (try saying that fast three times!). There is no cheering audience to disrupt the music (the recording seems to have taken place at various yoga venues, so perhaps the listeners were busy practicing or meditating... or maybe they were just listening with quiet respect). There are also no guest musicians credited--only the core duo of vocalist Kim Waters and bowed string player Hans Christian. Nonetheless, their intensely hypnotic sound, enhanced by samples and live loops, is as full and rich as ever. The world percussion is deep-voiced and intricate, and particularly striking are the appealing improvisations in the form of intros, interludes and extensions that distinguish these versions of the songs from those on the original studio albums. After recording this live album for Narada, Rasa went on to New Earth Records, for which they have currently released two CDs, "Shelter" and "Temple of Love." Compare and contrast their work with other artists such as Krishna Das, Singh Kaur and Vas."
