Synopsis

Product Description
?Just A Little Song? is the full-length debut release from gifted vocalist and bass player Ras Droppa. The reggae CD proudly features fourteen original tracks and covers a wide range of musical styles from roots and lovers rock to hip-hop and dancehall. It manages to transport the listener into Ras Droppa?s world of conscious lyrics, sweet melodies and swaying rhythms, the whole time delivering the universal messages that remind us about everything good in reggae music. It?s no mistake that the album?s music quickly evokes powerful memories of Ras Droppa?s early influences, Bob Marley, Jimmy Cliff, Garnett Silk and the Skatalites to name a few. The new CD, which has been Ras Droppa?s labor of love the last few years, includes songs featuring the musical talents of reggae legends Anthony B and Sister Carol as well as dancehall artist Dollarman and up-and-coming hip-hop artists Skanks and Pawz. The title track, ?Just A Little Song? featuring Anthony B, was originally released in January of 2001 on the Star Trail label and was very well received in Jamaica, instantly making an appearance on the charts. Remixed and re-released, it speaks of the power of the Rastafarian faith and the simplicity and devotion a mere song can deliver. ?Mr. President? is likely to end up as one of the most popular singles from the CD. The ?join-in-and-sing? lyrics and its standout fresh music offer up a powerful message to any countries? leader-- not to forget the people they supposedly represent and the promises they made. The uplifting ?Got To Be Strong? appears in two flavors on the album, once as a reggae version with the DJ stylings of Sister Carol and the other in beat-driven hip-hop fashion with the help of rappers Skanks and Pawz. The songs express the power and importance of finding oneself and being true to the lives we create. An energized, beautifully arranged tune that also serves to open the motion picture ?The Knee Shack? is ?Nothing Like Love?. The overwhelming positive vibes grab you right from the lead-in and keep you completely immersed and feeling irie until the end. ?Jah Will Not Fail? is a warm and inviting track on the CD, balancing percussion and sax arrangements that reflect on earlier reggae classics yet maintaining a contemporary sound. The tune ?Love Keeps Growing? embraces and energizes as Ras Droppa weaves his hooks around Pawz playful lyrics. This uniquely charged song whines and grinds along with them on the dancefloor smoothly and soulfully enveloping the listener. Rounding out the album are ?Warning? featuring Dollarman, which delivers an herb lovers exploration, ?One Drop Rock? a great instrumental cut with Ras Droppa playing the melodica, and the moving and expressive tracks ?Frustration?, ?Rise Up? and ?Moses?, each filled with lyrics rich in education and consciousness while remaining strongly emotional and musically vibrant. With the help of the many talented musicians he has worked with over the years, Ras Droppa has been able to deliver to the reggae massive more than ?Just A Little Song?. With this eminently danceable CD, he also provides a richly embracing collection of universal messages of strength, honor, respect and the true expression of what reggae music is all about.
