"This band is fantastic. They fall in somewhere between Soul Asylum and Replacements. Closer to Soul asylum. They do that tried-n-true Minneapolis rootsy midwest rock thing, but they do it with such clever words, cool low minimal production value, intensity. Its all 2 guitars n bass type stuff, btw, if you still like that. Hey and this guitar group isnt tainted by being music industry products like the world's most boring band, The Strokes. Rank Strangers are definately worth checkin' out. Be careful on the Web buying, because There is a bluegrass "Rank Strangers" too, as it is a Dylan song title."

"These guys played at my college in Iowa. I had never heard of them before. They are the best kept secret in Indie/Alternative rock. They blew me away! I am bad at describing how bands sound but the Rank Strangers reminded me of Pavement on speed. I bought "Consumption" at the show and its great--one of my favorite new cds of the past couple of years. They have a lot of catchy songs with cool words. My favorite songs are "Ana Voog is Sleeping" and "Rayner Park". I am glad to find this is finally available on Amazon--maybe people outside the midwest will wise up and buy this awesome cd!"
