"If you have listened to much Indian classical music, you'll spot a true master musician of rare quality here. I was truly amazed and impressed by the level of sophistication and beauty in Rajeev Taranath's playing. And if you aren't familiar with North Indian classical music you will be intuitively moved by the technical skills and incredible emotional touch this artist displays on the richly textured stringed instrument, the sarod. The tabla player Abhiman Kaushal, executes musically supportive and creative percussion accompaniment on each track. This is the kind of Indian classical music that we all need to hear more of - substantial, highly imaginative, subtle and very beautiful. Rajeev Taranath presents an approach to the music that is becoming all too rare in the contemporary Indian classical music scene where musical short-cuts abound in the attempt to get listener attention with cheap tricks. This artist gives us only the most superb musicianship. Echoes of the past are respectfully integrated with the present, revealing the refined power of a highly disciplined mind and emotional depth.
