CD ReviewsAn Unjustly overlooked album Fernando Silva | Santiago de Chile. | 01/16/2002 (5 out of 5 stars) "T'Pau is among my favorite pop-rock bands from the eighties, although they only released three albums between 1986 and 1991, all of them very, very good (1986's "Bridge of Spies", released in USA as "T'Pau", 1988's "Rage" and 1991's "The Promise"), not taking in account 1999's "Red", an excellent album, featuring only vocalist Carol Decker from the original group. "Rage" is my personal favorite T'Pau album, it was not released in the U.S. and I remember I bought the vinyl far away in 1988 (imported from England), being such a fave, later on I bought the cd. It's got good lyrics, energetic guitar, bass, drums and much rhythm, as well as a couple of softer, but very strongly performed, ballads. In my country, only "Secret Garden" (the first single), an uplifting song, was played seldomly on some radio stations, but the whole cd is excellent. "Arms of Love" is a powerful, I'd say even danceable, track; "Only the Lonely", another strong mid-tempo song, which was released as the album's third single in the U.K.; "Running Away" and "Taking Time Out", are both very fast paced, and they give you no rest!; "Road to Our Dream" (the second U.K. single) and "Heaven", are wonderful ballads; and "Island", is a song very-much-in the trend of her best known song from their first album, "Heart and Soul", with Carol Decker singing both lead (sort of sang like a rap verse) and background vocals. Carol Decker's voice is such an instrument, she sings with so much passion!, making every song she sings worthwhile, so don't wait and buy this record immediately. You won't regret it! As you won't with any of the band's other albums." In a Rage Mickey Glitter | my blue police box | 06/04/2005 (5 out of 5 stars) "I had a friend who found this album on vinyl back in the early 1990s; knowing how much I adored the group (and still do), he dubbed it to a tape for me (very old school). I listened to it so much it eventually became unlistenable, but by then, I'd found Rage in a head shop in Milford, Connecticut and snapped it up, almost in tears from my excitement. Although hard-pressed to nail down which T'Pau album is my favorite, if I was only allowed to bring one T'Pau album with me, it would be this one. But I'd try to sneak "Red" with me, too. It's got a little bit of everything. My favorites are "Secret Garden" and "This Girl," which was not on the tape Woj made for me and quite a surprse to find on the CD. If you see this in a cut-out bin, do pick it up. You won't be disappointed."
