Synopsis
Album Description After a quick name change from The Queerboys and copping the glowing rock and roll spirit of The Faces/Rod Stewart/70s Rolling Stones, London?s Quireboys (previously known as London Quireboys on this side of the pond) wasted no time conquering the U.K. Their debut album, the massively successful A Bit Of What You Fancy, yielded four huge selling singles (7 O?Clock, Hey You, I Don?t Love You Anymore and There She Goes Again) seemingly everywhere but in the U.S. Following being picked up by Sharon Osbourne?s management and getting ready to conquer The States, the Quireboys soon found their thunder and lightening stolen by the sudden rise of the similar stanced Black Crowes. Following the live release of their tumultuous appearance at the 1990 Castle Donnington Festival, the Quireboys finally released their 1993 Bob Rock produced second studio album, Bitter Sweet & Twisted and, just as fast as fame had smacked into them headlong, the Quireboys disintegrated following a European tour. Thankfully for all of us, the story does not end there. In 2001 a newly re-vamped and inspired Quireboys returned with a new album, This Is Rock ?n? Roll. Another live album later appeared, following a tour with Alice Cooper on the 2002 Monsters Of Rock Tour. Which brings us to Well Oiled: ten new songs of The Quireboys at their best, clearly confirming their place as one of the finest pure rock & roll bands on the planet. Similar CDs

CD ReviewsYou Can't Go Wrong With This Band lastofthewild1s | Blue Springs, MO. United States | 02/07/2005 (5 out of 5 stars) "The Quireboys are a band that you are placing a safe bet with when you buy an album by them. You never have to worry about the fact that you haven't heard one single track off of the album before you buy it, because they always deliver the goods.
There is however a complaint I have about this album...it only has nine tracks. But, I'd rather have nine strong tracks from this band than 12 tracks from most bands and 4 or 5 of them being good. The Quireboys play rock n' roll in a classic rock tradition that few bands do anymore. With Well Oiled, The Quuireboys take their sound a step further. They always sound like The Quireboys, but they've also stretched themselves a bit. You can hear that they have grown in songs like Black Mariah. But, you also get classic Quireboys in tunes like The Finer Stuff and Lorraine Lorraine. This band has failed to disappoint me after 14 years of being a fan. I hope more people get turned on to them, because everyone I've ever played them for has loved them. You owe it to yourself to check them out, because there are very few places that you will find good old fashioned real rock n' roll like this." |
