"The good news is Sena Jurinac is in thrilling voice. The sound is also very good; however, much of the famous Butterfly entrance is too far away from the mikes so we miss some thrilling singing by this great soprano. The bad news is the rest of the cast is not in the same league as the illustrious star soprano. In fact they (especially Pinkerton) became or were more famous as comprimario singers. The conducting is also pedestrian. The conductor is many times in a rush as if in a hurry to get this thing over with. This is too bad because we have a wonderful soprano who is also under-recorded."
