80's At It's Best

"Let me admit that I had never heard that much of these guys even though I claim to be a big fan of the 80's new wave bands. I originally investigated this album because I had heard several of the songs on the soundtrack to North Shore (a very entertaining surf movie). When I realized that three of the songs that I heard and liked in the movie were from Pseudo Echo, I bought the album. This album is very entertaining if not for its originality, at least for its execution of classic 80s synth new wave. There are times when this band sounds like OMD, Depeche, Oingo and a myriad of other bands from that time (there is a classic OMD 'loop' moment on one of the songs - if you buy the CD you'll know when you hear it). I won't argue who was the original in this situation, but I will tell you that this album is as entertaining and listenable as one from any of the other bands I previously mentioned and is well worth a purchase if you're looking to get turned on to 'new' music that is close to 20 years old. A must for any fan of 80s new wave."

"This excellent collection gathers songs not only from the US CD "Love an Adventure", but the even more new wave sounding songs from the groups 1984 debut LP. Note that a couple of songs from that first LP were eventually redone for the "Love an Adventure" US release, so some of the 12" versions on here are actually DIFFERENT 12" mixes than the US 12" versions--namely "a Beat for You" and "Listening". Just wish they would release the entire first album on CD. Track times:

1. listening (5:35)

2. a beat for you (7:26)

3. stranger in me (6:04)

4. Don't Go (6:40)

5. Love an Adventure (6:21)

6. Living in a Dream (5:39)

7. Destination Unknown (5:48)

8. Funky Town (6:35)"
