Synopsis

Product Description
?Prettyblack? is a journey into a new land that takes Hip Hop to it?s raw essence of beats and rhymes. A place where souls of all walks of life are touched and stereotypes are broken and the true meaning of ?black? is reintroduced to our advanced but shallow society. We wear black as a negative outfit, example: Black Monday (stock market crash), black plague (diseases inflicted upon many) and wearing black to funerals. The record ?Prettyblack? is restoring beauty to the word and the color with soulful simplified concepts, basic funky rhymestyles and the pure riding fun that the Hip Hop game lacks today. This sophomore effort from the legendary Prince Po (Organized Konfusion) has production from Large Professor, Rockwilder, Madlib and Po himself, that truly defines good music and it reminds you of how dope Po can be on the beats. This album might go over listeners heads especially if they?re looking for that intricate pro political controversial Organized Konfusion perspective. Po?s concepts and styles definitely fits today?s game yet with substance that will appeal to those still coming up who seem to yearn something new and more meaningful. ?Prettyblack? is a funky, colorblind, hooptie to Benz experience. It definitely let?s you know he has more goodies for true Hip Hop heads and that Nasty Habits Entertainment will be with us for many of Saturday afternoon cruises to come... Holla Black!

The PRINCE that would be king.

"After Organised Konfusion broke up alotta hiphop fans (including myself) were dying for both Pharoah Monch and Prince Po to release solo's. But while Pharoah blew up with "Simon Says" and the accompanying album "Internal Affairs" PO went underground on abit of a hiatus. After eventually resurfacing with "The Slickness" afew years back he quickly re-established himself with the hardcore underground fans again. This year he has returned stronger in my opinion flexing his lyrical muscles tighter than before. Whereas on his debut solo afew tracks kinda lacked that "spark", virtually every track on display here is excellent. Also his subject matter is much wider this time out. A whole array of topics are tackled with vigour, passion and expertise. The production is also outstanding on most of the tracks. Madlib gives him 1 awesome beat on "Mecheti Lightspeed" where PO is at his pinnacle. Large Pro gives him 1 on "Right 2 Know" where an excellent head nodding beat is joined by a subtle electric guitar loop and Chas West singing on the chorus. Po himself produces 4 and they are all at a very high standard. There is also a beautiful track dedicated to J-Dilla called "U Right Hear" that PO produces that is captivating. Also with an anthem like the smokey sounding "Holla" the album just has strong points all over. Then with the added bonus of 2 hidden tracks at the end "Hard" and "Right 2 Know"(remix) which is equally tight. This is a bright moment for hiphop in a time where there's very few highlights this year. Like EL DA SENSEI's "The Unusual" this is a strong blow for real hiphop. Excellent lyrics, brilliant beats....nuff said."
An album for everyone!

"This is the kind of album we need more of. Very well balanced. There is something on here for everyone. There are no bling rhymes, or talk of guns and stuff like that. No imaginary gangster tales. Some good flows and lyrics. Highly recommend this for everyone who is seeking something you will gain something from. This is not some "put your mind on cruise control" Dumb rap. This is Hip Hop!!!"
