"the material on this cd is only the tip of the iceberg for a best of cozy. the solo stuff put on this cd is great but thats the problem..its only his solo material. nothing from jeff beck, rainbow(his best work) or whitesnake, msg, etc..too bad, the man was a phenomenal skin smasher whose memory should go beyond whats on this cd."
Not even a bare bones collection, but great music here

"Cozy's work should need to be compiled in a box set maybe, and a very extensive one. He has worked with most of the major british rock and heavy metal bands from the UK, such as Rainbow, Whitesnake, Black Sabbath, Brian May, Jeff Beck, Emerson Lake & Powell, Peter Green, Jon Lord... I't impossible to compile his best work in a single disc. This collection features tracks from only three of his solo albums: "Over the top" (1979), "Tilt" (1981) and Octopuss (1983) All the material is instrumental, with a variety of styles: rock, fusion, blues, progressive rock... and features performances by Jeff Beck, Jon Lord, Gary Moore and Jack Bruce. It's a very musical approach, since there's a lot of top notch drumming. It's mostly musicians music, so it means it's not appealing to some of the fans. Drummers should check this release, or anything by Mr. Powell"
Cozy was one of the greatest drummers!

"this compilation from his solo career is great! they left out EL SID a great tune from over the top. this cd is worth checking out because it shows cozy more as a great musician and not just the bombastic skinsmasher he wasd commonly known for. it's nice to compare the original version of "UP ON THE DOWNS" to the recent KEN SERIO "THROUGH THE GATE" version.his tribute to cozy . RIP COZY WE MISS YOU!"

"Cozy's work should never be forgotten. (And probably never will...) Agree with others who say that his work can't be gathered on just one cd!
One of the reviews claims that Cozy has released three records as a solo-artist, but he actually has released four. "The Drums are Back" (1991 or '92 I think) is maybe his best record in my opinion."
Only the best from his solo stuff

"Cozy Powell will always be inside my heart for all the good things he has done in rock music, being in numerous bands like Jeff Beck, Rainbow, MSG, Whitesnake, ELP and Black Sabbath and he also released 3 solo albums, Over the Top (my favorite with Cozy Powell, Tilt (good but not as killer as O.T.T) and Octopuss (okay overall).
The music on this CD is INTENSE! And if you're in a very angry mood and want to ease the pain, listen to this CD, especially Over the Top, this CD is worth it for that track alone, or Hot Rocks, Sunset and Sweet Poison (which sounds typical to Jeff Beck on Blow by Blow or Wired) are also classics. Also featured on this album....
Don Airey (Ozzy Osbourne, Rainbow and Whitesnake)
Jeff Beck (Yardbirds and solo)
Jack Bruce (Cream)
Dave Clemson (Humble Pie)
Jon Lord (Deep Purple and Whitesnake)"
