"Taang releases another great compilation of songs by a great band (the SS Decontrol one was mixed horribley though) with other great releases from bands like Gang Green, Negative FX, and Battalion of Saints. This has two of Poison Ideas best releases (the first lp and the first 7") which is grade A hardcore like Negative Approach, (early) SS Decontrol, S.O.A., Black Flag, etc.the fat guy duo of Jerry A and Pig Champion make for some real angry vocal work and tight thrashing guitars. This cd is definitely worth it if you are just getting into the band since it has a couple of their albums (saving yourself money) so check it out..."

"First, to the fellow who cant seem to find the track list, check out the back of the album or perhaps the liner notes. If they arent there than you've been jiped. On to the record. In this you get their first 3 albums and a late career e.p., "Learning To Scream". The later starts off the album and is just as good as anything they've done. After that we fly into the wonderful "King's of Punk", my favorite. Virtually every song on that section of the disc is great. All fast, heavy Moterhead on Black Flag style hardcore that just pummels you. "God Not God" has to be one of the most intense songs ever recorded. For this section alone it's worth picking up, but you don't get let down after that. "Pick Your King" follows and is much the same, with a little less flattering production though. "Record Collectors Are Pretentious A$$holes" finishes off the record and has a sound similar to that of "Kings Of Punk", and is no less harsh. To get all these albums on one disc is mindblowing. That they are all so great is even more phenomenal. One of the forgotten hardcore bands of the 80's, this proves why they shouldent be."

"Hardcore ain't supposed to be pretty! I've used that phrase many times when I introduced somebody to my favorite type of music. This is a fantastic collection of POISON IDEA songs and it contains, as far as I'm concerned, their absolutely best work, just as the title suggests. Fantastic, mostly very fast, old school hardcore with sometimes twisted, sometimes dead-on lyrics about life in general. This is definatly not for everybody. The radio friendly pop-punk of today is elevator music compared to this stuff.POISON IDEA also had one of the coolest t-shirts of all time. The PICK YOUR KING one with JESUS on the front and ELVIS on the back. You can't beat that!"
