Even after 20 years, Poi Dog Pondering is still making music that is as vibrant and relevant as anything they've done. The range of music here is amazing, and it all works. The opening lyrics of the first track, "Perfect Music," nicely presage what awaits on this CD: "Perfect music, lying by me in my bed. Perfect music, talking to me in my head." "Palm Leaf Effigy" is a soft, beautiful, hauntingly personal song. The bouncy pop feel of "Lemon Drop Man" belies the poignant lyrics. "Candy" and "Super Tarana," tucked near the end of the CD, provide the requisite rockin' 1-2 punch. Perfect music, indeed." Love it!
